Doing business as Monsun Geosci, I am currently working as a sub-contractor to the manufacturer of an electron beam instrument used in petrograhy and other material science fields, helping with assembly, testing, installation of new instruments, as well as service, repair, and upgrades to older instruments.
I have extensive experience mapping bedrock geology throughout New Hampshire, with additional experience mapping geology in the Karakorum Mountains of northern Pakistan. I have also organized and led numerous geological field trips throughout New England as well as to Wyoming and adjacent states, and to northern Arizona and southern Utah. TongaSohkaLumba.jpg
1988
At Keene State College, I taught courses in Environmental Geology, Hydrogeology, and Environmental Geochemistry, among other subjects (Structural Geology, Meteorology, the Science of Sailing, Sustainability....) In addition, I served the college in numerous other capacities.
On April 12, 2011, I was awarded the Campus Compact Presdient's Good Steward Award by Keene State College President Helen Giles-Gee, which is annually presented to "a member of the faculty, administration or staff who has contributed his or her professional expertise in service to the wider community and who has significantly advanced public service on their campus" -- see the award poster (PDF).

2002
I have had a broad array of research interests including soil and sediment contamination, hydrology, and "hard-rock" geology. Much of my work involves the application of geochemistry and/or geophysics to addressing environmental, hydrological, or other geological questions. While at Keene State College, I was co-director of the KSC Center for Environmental BioGeoChemistry, which included laboratory facilities and instrumentation for elemental and stable isotopic analyses of a wide range of sample types.
Research Areas
I served on the State of New Hampshire Board of Professional Geologists from 2000 to 2009, and have been involved with several state, regional, and national professional and scientific organizations Past clients have included town conservation commissions, a regional land conservancy, private landowners, developers, and an environmental attorney. . geo2.gif
I received a B.A. cum laude in Geological Sciences from Harvard College (1984), and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Geology from Dartmouth College (1990, 1992).
